London Olympics Organizers Say Middletons' Company May Be Violating Olympic Rules

LONDON -- London Games organizers say they are considering asking the family of Kate and Pippa Middleton to make changes to their company's website to keep in line with Olympic legislation.

Organizers say they are fine with the Middleton family selling products featuring Olympic-style rings through their mail-order company, Party Pieces. But it is the references to "Celebrate The Games" and "Let The Games Begin" that could be problematic.

Organizers say while there are "no infringements" of the Olympic legislation, "we may ask them to make a very minor change to some copy."

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

LONDON (AP) ? London Olympic organizers will look into whether Pippa Middleton and her family are breaking laws that prevent unofficial games merchandise from being sold.

Products featuring Olympic-style rings are being sold on the website of mail-order company Party Pieces, which is owned by the family of Prince William's wife, the former Kate Middleton.

Dozens of items are being sold under a "Celebrate The Games" section, including a ring toss game featuring five rings in the Olympic colors.

They could be breaching the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act, which was passed in 2006.

London organizing committee spokeswoman Jackie Brock-Doyle says "we're going to have a look at it."

Companies can also be prosecuted if they use the slogans "backing the 2012 Games" or "supporting the London Games."
