The nuclear and renewable energy industries have joined forces to warn that Britain risks losing jobs and investment if the Government fails to commit itself to a new carbon-cutting target.
Before coalition talks this week, trade bodies representing hundreds of companies pursuing widely diverse energy sources have buried traditional enmity and called for action.
In a letter to Ed Davey, the Energy and Climate Change Secretary, they have urged the Government to ensure that the forthcoming Energy Bill includes a target for decarbonising the energy sector by 2030.
The Bill should be speeded on to the statute book as early
